Welcome to Saint Dominic's Family ServicesSaint Dominic's Family Services is a nonprofit human services organization founded by the Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt in 1878. We provide foster care and prevention, developmental disabilities, mental health, therapeutic education, and preschool services to about 2,000 children, adults and families in the Bronx, Rockland and Orange Counties.
Located in Blauvelt, N.Y., St. Dominic’s School,also known as a K-12th grade 853 School, services a diverse population of students with social-emotional needs, autism, neurological impairments and other learning disabilities.
Saint Dominic's Therapeutic Preschool,located in the Bronx, is a New York State Approved Bilingual Preschool program that provides a full range of educational and clinical services to special education and non-disabled children, 2.7 to 5.0 years of age.
Saint Dominic's Pre-K,This FREE full-day Pre-Kindergarten program is for English speaking as well as bilingual (English/Spanish) children.
The Foster Care and Prevention Programcurrently provides foster and kinship care to approximately 400 children in the Bronx who have been referred to the agency through the Administration for Children's Services, as well as approximately 50 additional children in its Treatment Family Foster Care unit.
The Adult Mental Health Programhelps individuals challenged by mental illness live in the most independent community settings possible.
The Developmental Disabilities Departmentprovides therapeutic residential programs for developmentally disabled adults and children. We provide Intermediate Care Facilities, Individualized Residential Alternatives, Day Habilitation Program, Service Coordination and Community Habilitation in Rockland County, Orange County and the Bronx.
Saint Dominic's Family Servicesprovides home-based services in the Bronx and Rockland County to prevent separation of families, increase family stability and reduce the stressors that families face.
Children's Care Coordination
On February 7, more than 1,300 leaders of New York City’s business and labor industry came together to celebrate and raise money for Saint Dominic’s Family Services. The event, hosted by guest emcee, WNBC’s Raphael Miranda, raised over $1.36 million for the 141-year-old community organization.
In early December, the Developmental Disabilities Program's main hall was transformed into a winter wonderland with festivities and decorating.
On December 1, 2018 we hosted our Annual Toy Drive at the at the St. Dominic’s School Gymnasium. Members of our staff, Board of Directors and the wider community all came together with their families to make the event a success.
This year, Saint Dominic’s Family Services celebrates its 140th Anniversary. Started back in 1878 by Mother Mary Ann Sammon as an orphanage for girls in New York City. It was then expanded and set up permanent residence in what is now Blauvelt, NY. It is still operating on those very same grounds 140 years later.
