Anniversary Celebration Highlights Agency's 140 Years of Service
This year, Saint Dominic’s Family Services celebrates its 140th Anniversary. Started back in 1878 by Mother Mary Ann Sammon as an orphanage for girls in New York City. It was then expanded and set up permanent residence in what is now Blauvelt, NY. It is still operating on those very same grounds 140 years later.
The agency has grown by leaps and bounds over those 140 years all while still following the mission of our Foundress. We currently serve over 2,000 children, adolescents and families throughout the Bronx, Rockland and Orange Counties. We provide services in Foster Care and Adoption, Mental Health for children and adults, therapeutic pre-school and K-12, and Developmental Disabilities.
In October, past and present employees, along with the Board of Directors and invited guests enjoyed a BBQ luncheon to celebrate this major milestone right on the campus where Mother Mary Ann decided to carry out her mission. It was a wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all.
