Connecting with the Community

Saint Dominic’s Family Services’ (SDFS) Family Connections Program was happy to participate in a recent community event sponsored by the Bronx South Division of Child Protection Services, a unit of the NYC Administration for Children’s Services (ACS). SDFS was one of several agencies that were given the opportunity to share program information with families in the community.

The Family Connections Program assists struggling parents with resources, counseling, and skill building to overcome the challenges that threaten their ability to care for their children and stay together. Program Supervisor, Kimberly Herman, stated, "It was a wonderful opportunity to be able to bring resources to the community and help educate families about our services. In this way, we were able to continue our efforts in achieving ACS’ goals for improving NYC children’s services relationships within the community.”

The event was held at Poe Park, located in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx. It featured music, games, raffles, and food among other activities. In addition, school supplies including bookbags, pens, pencils, and notebooks were given away to children from the surrounding community.
