SDFS Celebrates Our Adoptive Parents

In November, Saint Dominic's Family Services recognized the extraordinary families who have adopted or are in the process of adopting children in our Family Foster Care Program. Over 50 adults and children joined us to celebrate at the Family Service Center in the Bronx.

The goal of the Family Foster Care program is to bring stability to the lives of children who have survived neglect, abuse or abandonment. We seek homes with a safe, nurturing, and healing environment which promote growth and development so that children may attain their maximum potential. Staff work diligently to reunite children who are in foster care with their biological families. However, when that is not possible, every effort is made to ensure that the child can grow up in a secure and loving environment through adoption.

The Family Foster Care Program provides foster and kinship care to approximately 300 children who have been referred to the agency through the Administration for Children's Services, as well as approximately 40 additional children in its Treatment Family Foster Care unit which serves children with severe mental health and behavioral issues.
