Therapeutic Preschool (TORCH)

St. Dominic's Therapeutic Preschool (TORCH), located in the Bronx, is a New York State Approved Bilingual Pre-school program that provides a full range of educational and clinical services to special education and non-disabled children, 2.7 to 5.0 years of age.

 

The school is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Only eight percent of the nation’s early childhood programs receive the NAEYC honor.

 

St. Dominic's Therapeutic Preschool provides a variety of services based on the individual needs of the child: Full day sessions; integrated classes with non-disabled children; related services, including speech, counseling and occupational therapy; Six-week summer program; transportation for eligible children; breakfast, lunch and Parent workshops.

 

St. Dominic's Therapeutic Preschool is also an Evaluation Center for preschool children who are suspected of having a disability. Children receive evaluations as mandated by the districts’ Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) Committees.

St. Dominic's Therapeutic Preschool is a program of Saint Dominic's Family Services. The mission of St. Dominic's Therapeutic Preschool is to provide a supportive and caring environment to preschool children with special needs and to non-disabled children. Through love, praise and encouragement, St. Dominic's Therapeutic Preschool gives children the confidence they need to learn and gives parents the hope that their children will reach their fullest potential.

Pre-K For All

This FREE full-day Pre-Kindergarten for All program is for children who reside in New York City and will be 4 years old before December 31 of each year. The school day runs from 8:15 AM to 2:35 PM (6 hours and 20 minutes).

 

Curriculum

The Pre-K for All Interdisciplinary Units of Study is aligned to the PreKindergarten Foundation Common Core (PKFCC) and the NYC School Readiness Goals.
