March 2022- On March 15, the Friends of Saint Dominic’s hosted their 41st Annual Business & Labor Event in New York City. The event was held at 1301 Avenue of the Americas at 53rd St. Usually, the event has been a 1,500-seated dinner in Manhattan. Due to COVID protocols however, the Friends of Saint Dominic’s decided to go forward with a cocktail reception.
“The purpose of the event is to generate much needed funds for the Friends of Saint Dominic’s, and to increase awareness for them and Saint Dominic’s Family Services,” said Jennifer Alpert, event producer for the Friends of Saint Dom’s.
The idea of this event originates from a construction and real estate industry group who wanted to give back to the community. Months went into the planning of this year’s event. A venue had to be found, budgets had to be prepared, sponsors had to be confirmed, and several other things had to be done before the event could be carried out.
Along with Ms. Alpert, the main team responsible for constructing this year’s event included event co-chairs Eugene P. White and John O’Hare, along with event committee members, Pro Management Plus, Saint Dominic’s Family Services volunteers, and Joan Daly of the Friends of Saint Dominic’s.
“Over 100 corporate and individual sponsors and donors contributed for this event,” said Ms. Alpert.
In the end, the event raised a total of $1,013,275.
Thank you to all donors and sponsors for your generous contributions. Also a thank you to all staff volunteers and committee members, as well as Friends’ president, Brian Finneran, Dawn Donaghy and Ms. Alpert herself.

March 2022- Saint Dominic’s Family Services has partnered up with 511 NY Rideshare to provide transportation resources to improve your commuting experience. This is a benefit that will be offered to our employees.
A survey link is attached by clicking on the flyer graphic above. If one is interested in the carpool service, then he or she would register by filling out the survey. Once an employee becomes a member, he or she would then be matched up with other members in the database.
Once a match is determined, the driver would then reach out to our employee via email or telephone and let him or her know that we have room for one or two others in our carpool. They then determine a meet up spot.
511 members do not meet at members’ home addresses. Each driver determines what amount the member or members carpooling will need to chip in for tolls and gas.
